Hilary spent twenty years in cooperatives: helping customers, leading teams, and managing operations. Co-owning one of the largest worker-owned co-operatives in the U.S., Equal Exchange, was an honor. Hilary managed operations for Equal Exchange’s Twin Cities warehouse. Serving on Equal’s board helped Hilary to understand the power of financial knowledge.
Having earned a B.A. in Cultural Studies from Wellesley College in 2001, Hilary now studies accounting, with the goal of being able to help business-owners (including cooperative owners) feel empowered and confident in their decision-making. In the summer of 2022, Hilary volunteered for Prepare + Prosper, which offers free tax prep and financial services, and hopes to do so again, although not during tax season!
Besides being a co-op nerd, Hilary loves board games and cats. Cooperative games, of course, are a favorite. Cooperative cats don’t exist.
